Call for Papers for the Special Issue "Adolescences and Youths in the Face of Contemporary Violence"

The journal "Narrativas Antropológicas" and the Working Group "Adolescences, Youths, Violence, and Rights" (AJUVID) of the Latin American Forum on Anthropology of Law (FLAD-Mexico) invite researchers interested in submitting papers derived from analyses, reflections, completed or ongoing research related to the analysis of youths and adolescences in scenarios, conditions, or contexts of violence in Mexico and Latin America.

Theme

Over the past decades, social dynamics in Latin America have followed a series of inertia resulting from political and economic models imposed in the region's countries. Some policies adopted by states in different local territories have altered the mode of organization and daily life, opening spaces that enable the emergence of different forms of violence that modify the life trajectories of the population, with a particular emphasis on adolescences and youths. Likewise, practices have emerged that demonstrate agency and ways of circumscribing such violence from different places, understandings, and logics. Therefore, it is necessary to call for the integration of a body of work that shows the ways in which contemporary violence affects the lives of young people and adolescents in both Mexico and Latin America.

Aspects of Interest in the Call for Papers

Implications of contemporary violence on the life trajectories of young people and adolescents.
Socialization of adolescents and youths in contexts of violence and precarity.
Affections, emotions, and feelings of adolescents and youths in the face of experiences of violence.
Adolescences and youths in relation to armed violence, organized crime, or drug trafficking.
