Abstract

To think about the contemporary will always be flippancy, but to try to understand the vicissitudes of desire is a bet on delirium. Our time struggles with deep transformations that go beyond its own cultural occurrences. These movements compromise, like never before, the very structure of the subject. Therefore the importance to peek into these vortexes where desire takes place, in its search for including itself in history. The contemporary, with its obsession for images, has turned delirium into a form of existence. Realty and fiction seem to take place at the same level, that’s why literature becomes a privileged field, making narrative work like that of Elfriede Jelinek, with its power of expression, an aide in our investigation of amorous desire in our time.
