Abstract

This article deals with some of the conceptual frameworks that can contribute to the deconstruction of homophobia in Mexico, such as the concept of the “foreigner” given by Zygmunt Bauman, which constitutes a valuable tool to understand the causes of discrimination; Pierre Bourdieu´s theory of masculine domination, which helps explain why the homosexual is rejected in an androcentric model of society; and, finally, the ideas which declare that heterosexism, a product of masculine domination and Judeo-Christian tradition, contributes to the stigmatisation of homosexuals.
