Dinámica histórica, percepción, definición y gestión del patrimonio en Kenia: de la era precolonial a la postdevolucionaria

Este estudio explora la dinámica que ha influido en la percepción, definición y gestión del patrimonio en Kenia desde el periodo precolonial hasta la era posterior a la revolución. Demuestra cómo, a lo largo de los años, distintas entidades han influido en la forma de percibir y conservar el patrimonio en el país. Diferentes agentes han empleado diversas nociones, elementos y términos a la hora de definir, valorar, clasificar, investigar, conservar, difundir y dar a conocer el patrimonio. Así lo demuestra la evolución de las costumbres, la terminología, el lenguaje y las leyes que los agentes han seguido adoptando de forma variable al interactuar con el patrimonio y promulgarlo. El documento demuestra que todos los actores, incluidas las comunidades africanas precoloniales, el gobierno colonial, las comunidades étnicas posteriores a la independencia, el gobierno posterior a la independencia y su élite, los gobiernos nacionales y de condado/regionales posteriores a la revolución, así como la comunidad internacional y los organismos multinacionales, han definido y empleado continuamente el patrimonio para articular y satisfacer sus intereses sociopolíticos y económicos. El estudio también demuestra la complejidad que a menudo entrañan las siempre cambiantes e intrincadas interacciones entre los intereses contrapuestos y en conflicto de las partes interesadas.
