The narrative of “1968 as an impossible history,” puts in context the Cold War, the war in Southeast Asia, the significance of Cuba, revolutions and coup d´etat in America, in a Mexico that appeared calm, but where social uprisings—workers, guerrilla movements— were taking place, invisible to the media. Students influenced by what was happening in France, Germany and the United States, were empowered in the face of the injustices of poverty, inequality, and repression. They threw themselves into an unequal struggle that signaled the beginning of a new history in México.
